Hello

I’m Cecilia Amorita Zavala — Executive Director of Nation Outside and founder of Amorita Consulting. My journey into leadership has been anything but conventional. As a justice-impacted woman, a mother, and a community leader, I’ve had to navigate barriers, rebuild from the ground up, and reclaim my voice.

 

Those experiences shaped the leader I am today. They taught me resilience, empathy, and the power of authenticity. I learned that leadership isn’t about being perfect — it’s about showing up real, creating space for others, and leading with both strategy and heart.

 

For more than 25 years, I’ve worked in community service, advocacy, and organizational leadership. Today, I use that experience to coach leaders, advise organizations, and build movements rooted in justice, equity, and transformation. Through my work at Nation Outside and Amorita Consulting, I’ve seen firsthand how lived experience can drive systemic change and how people-centered leadership creates lasting impact.

 

I started Lead with Amorita because I believe stories are powerful tools for connection and change. This blog is where I share the lessons I’ve learned — and continue to learn — about leadership, resilience, and building futures filled with hope and possibility.
